Let's Get Started!

OUR TEAM
COUNSELING SERVICES

Why Counseling?

Counseling can be intimidating if you’ve never experienced it before. It’s scary to think about letting someone else into your inner most thoughts and secrets. However, sometimes we need a space that is unbiased to be able to process through tough events in our lives. Counseling is a confidential space created to be free of judgment. It’s meant to help process through tough thoughts, emotions, and events to help gain a better understanding of yourself and your values. Counseling can open up space to allow healing, growth, acceptance, and love for your self.

First Session

The first session is unlike any other session. There are a lot of feelings that might go into a first session. Excitement, maybe some anxiety. The first session is meant to help get you acquainted with the therapist, the office, and what to expect from this process. During the first session, there will be a little paperwork and a lot of information gathering to help get to know you better. There is no right way to do a first session. So come as you are and we will help with the rest!

What's the Process?

Counseling is a process that is tailored to each individual person. Some people utilize a few sessions to help with a certain life event while others engage in sessions consistently over a longer period of time. The amount and frequency of sessions will be discussed and decided during the first session. During this process different techniques and interventions from mindfulness to value based work are utilized. The goal of therapy is to explore yourself, learn about your emotions, and develop skills to implement into your life to begin feeling better.

"The No Surprises Act"

A new consumer protection law called “The No Surprises Act” went into effect on January 1, 2022. Here’s what you need to know:

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
  • Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
  • You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.

"Working along side Rachel and having her as my supervisor has been such an insipiring experience. She has a confidence in her work that is admirable. Her insight and natural leadership tendencies make her approachable and easy to talk to. She made herself available to me whenever I needed her and always went above and beyond in her duties as a supervisor. She even takes the time to call me for my concerns even though she's no longer my supervisor! Whenever I leave a conversation with Rachel I feel more at ease and confident in my ability to take on a challenging situation. She has found a balance between empathy and challenging others that makes room for change. My work with Rachel has aided in my professional development and I will forever be grateful for that." --via Google Review
"Rachel is a bright, present, compassionate and wise beyond her years clinician! Rachel brings a sense of calm and grounding to all her interactions with guests and colleagues. It was my immense pleasure to have Rachel as a clinical supervisor at a large Chicago private practice. Rachel has expertise in mindfulness approaches, boundary and limiting setting skills, and trauma therapy. Rachel is able to organically and authentically incorporate a humanistic, trauma informed approach to her work. I have and continue to learn so much from her on both personal and professional levels!" -- via Google Review
