Hi, I’m Ellen Scott, and I’m grateful to be at Ebb & Flow Counseling as a Counselor Trainee. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in Counseling and Art Therapy at Ursuline College, and I have a BA from Kent State University in Human Development and Family Studies.

My approach to therapy is client-centered. I believe therapy should be collaborative as we work together to create a plan for your unique goals. Having experienced therapy as a client myself, I understand that it can be intimidating, so I work to create a safe space for you to express yourself without judgment.

As a therapist, I like to use elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), but always strive to tailor my approach in sessions to what fits each unique client the best. In addition to counseling, I also love to use Art Therapy. I believe creativity is a conduit for healing and Art Therapy can encourage emotional release while empowering the client to express themselves. You don’t have to be an artist to experience the benefits of Art Therapy; in Art Therapy it is all about the process over the product.

I have experience working with adults and children with disabilities, substance use disorders, trauma, anxiety, and depression. I am interested in issues of identity, self-esteem, and helping clients to live life fully and authentically. I believe my role as your therapist is to walk alongside you through life’s challenges while guiding you towards your own power and truth.

When I’m not at work or school, you can find me enjoying time with friends and family, reading fantasy books, cuddling with my cat, or creating art.

I look forward to meeting you and working with you to reach your goals!
