Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Loss, & Adjustment Difficulties

Hello, I’m J. Subsinsky (he/him). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Art Therapist (ATR-P), and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). My mission is to guide clients on a transformative journey where we bring unconscious material to light, and work collaboratively to reach profound levels of self-awareness, compassion, and acceptance so that individuals may access a state of inner harmony to navigate life as their authentic selves with a tranquil heart.

I have a deep affinity for working with creative and introspective adults seeking to understand themselves. Together, we explore not only the presenting issues but also address underlying patterns of thinking and behavior that have contributed to these issues. My specialization of therapy services extends to addressing symptoms related to past trauma, anxiety, depression, loss, and adjustment difficulties. My approach to treatment is individualized, tailoring treatment to an individual’s unique needs and preferences. I value client-clinician collaboration and prioritize client-empowerment throughout every step of our therapeutic journey.

In my practice, I blend an eclectic tapestry of cohesive therapeutic perspectives, including a trauma-informed lens, person-centered care, Jungian, Gestalt, and Existentialist perspectives. Additionally, I incorporate evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Processing Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, forming a versatile toolkit that empowers individuals to heal, rewrite their life-narratives, and rediscover an inner resilience that can lead them to a more liberated, fulfilling life.  This unique fusion is further enriched by the expressive power of Art Therapy, which holds a special place in my practice. Art Therapy is not restricted to those with artistic backgrounds or a strong interest in art, but serves as a powerful tool, for anyone, to access their unconscious mind. I employ the psycho-kinetic imagery model, utilizing visual art, creative writing, and mindful movement to help clients overcome, or work with, their own creative barriers and resistance.

My professional journey has led me through diverse mental health landscapes. I have experience working in community mental health, where I focused on the treatment of PTSD in clients with co-occurring substance use disorders. I have provided therapeutic support in a residential setting for individuals grappling with eating disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns, and facilitated art therapy services for individuals and groups of various mental health diagnoses.

Beyond my professional commitments, I am an artist myself. I find immense joy engaging in the creative process, through collage, painting, and experimental filmmaking. My passion for exploration extends to collecting used books, immersing myself in art museums, indulging in classic Star Trek episodes, and cherishing moments with my partner and our Sphynx cat, Roscoe.

I’m excited to embark on this therapeutic journey with you! Together, we’ll navigate the depths of self-discovery and healing, utilizing the transformative power of art and psychotherapy.
